You dancing?

My dance band for later on at the ball – after The Proclaimers and after Jim Diamond – is The Full Tin Tin. It’s a nine piece cover band which can turn its hand to a rocked up ceilidh tune or two - and which is distinguished by all its members being lawyers at Thorntons in Dundee! This is what I want to include in the programme about them – but am slightly worried about how and where to squeeze it in.

Otherwise known as 'that famous bunch of lawyers from Dundee' The Full Tin Tin are partners and associates at Thorntons Law LLP, a leading Scottish law firm. Formed in 2005 for a one-off gig The Full Tin Tin now raise thousands of pounds each year for local and national charities through events like this, and private functions. Dundee's best kent band after Snow Patrol and The View. For booking enquiries please contact cnicol@thorntons-law.co.uk.

I know The Full Tin Tin because Craig Nicol, the band’s leader, is a friend through Robin. A few months ago Robin came in from a late night and told me he had found the music for the after ball party – Craig’s band. I assumed it was drink talking but after a series of phone calls I found myself driving to Dundee to the Friary at 9pm to listen to them – as a possible band for the ball. If you knew how ill-equipped I am to assess a band, you’d be laughing! I thought they were fantastic but I had already put feelers out to a number of professional bands and didn’t know what to do. One day I just realised that it was ridiculous to have a friend with a fabulous band, willing and able to come to Edinburgh to play for free - and not grab them!

The running order is perfect for this kind of evening – lots of favourites and there are a few surprises in store!

If you are wondering, the name of the band has something to do with what their hair looks like after an energetic gig – “a full Tin Tin”! I’m really indebted to you all guys!

    Hi Olivia
just wanted to let you know that we are really looking forward to performing on the night and are honoured that you thought us good enough for such an important event. We will do everything we can to make the party end of the evening go with a bang and hopefully we'll have everyone giving their all on the dance floor. Best of luck in the build up to next Saturday and see you then.
    Best regards
